Owen's Family Maternity | Thomasville, NC

“Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends.” -Unknown

2020

So my story begins almost a year ago when I got the opportunity to photograph one of my sister's maternity photos - at home. Up to this point, I had mostly shot outdoors; and photographing inside without camera lights and a backdrop did slightly make me nervous.

We set up to take photos in the living and dining room, which did require us to open up the curtains and move the dining table. I was not sure how it was going to work out, but in my heart, I knew these photos were going to be special.

I enjoyed the fact that there was so much natural light that just beamed through the windows. The shadows were soft at certain angles and then for others it was just right for the perfect silhouette moments. I really loved the amazing candids that I was able to capture. It was nice to just see them being a family and getting to experience how they interact as a family.

So now let's jump forward to March 2020. I was in my home taken photos of my friend's one-year-old baby girl when my phone buzzed. I had received a photo message from the group chat my three sisters and I have. It was a photo of my two nieces with cute, matching shirts that both read "big sister." At first, it took me a second before I realized... I was getting a new niece or nephew!

So flash forward to last Thursday, I packed my car up and drove to my sister's house, where once again I had the honor of photographing this special moment in her family's lives. I love getting to see her, my bother-in-law, and my nieces. They always bring a smile to my face and fill my heart with love.

I am so overjoyed to have been given the honor to take this sweet maternity photos for my sister and her family. Knowing that we get to share these photos has memories with the girls and their soon to be brother or sister is wonderful.
